Trilobate (three-lobed) arrows dominated the battlefields of ancient Rome. They were easy to make and relatively stable in flight. Arrowheads were often used by the Sagittarii (plural of Sagittarius meaning “archer” in Latin.) Roughly two thirds of the Sagittarii battled on foot, while the rest rode horseback.
