Campo del Cielo Meteorites date back thousands of years. The meteorite fall that resulted in the Campo del Cielo crater field, in Argentina, is estimated to have occurred around 4,000 to 5,000 years ago. These meteorites are primarily composed of Iron and are believed to have originated from the breakup of a larger asteroid in the asteroid belt between Mars and Jupiter.

The indigenous people of the region were likely the first witnesses to the meteorite fall. However, the Campo del Cielo Meteorites gained broader attention in the late 16th century when Spanish explorers discovered the meteorite fragments while searching for silver.

These Campo del Cielo Meteorites are small fragments of a larger meteorite and encapsulate a rich piece of cosmic history!

The meteorite(s) received may differ in shape, size and color from the meteorites photographed!
